Here are the rules for D7's championships:
NSRCA District 7 Season Champion Rules (since 2017)
- Who is eligible?
- The NSRCA District 7 Season Champion title and trophy are sponsored by the NSRCA and are open to any current NSRCA District 7 member. You must join the NSRCA prior to your first contest for district points to count for that contest and all others after for the current season.
- The NSRCA District 7 Season Champion title and trophy are sponsored by the NSRCA and are open to any current NSRCA District 7 member. You must join the NSRCA prior to your first contest for district points to count for that contest and all others after for the current season.
- What classes are eligible?
- All AMA pattern classes are eligible for a season champion award. (Sportsman, Intermediate, Advanced, Masters and FAI-F3A) If a new or experimental class is being tried out in the district, it is up to the District VP to decide if a season champion award will be offered for that class.
- How is the season champion determined?
- The season championship for a class is made up of two scores. The cumulative season total score and the pilots score at the District Championship contest. The highest total score in a class is awarded the Season Championship Perpetual trophy to hold until the next season champion is determined and also a “keeper” Season Championship trophy.
- Cumulative Season Total Score
- This score is the sum of a pilots three best contests flown in the district during the year. (A pilot may use two scores from an out of District contest to count towards these three contests) The pilots score is normalized against the top attending NSRCA District 7 member pilots score in his/her class to a maximum of 33.33333334 points. (If an out of district contest is used, the pilots score is normalized against the highest placing NSRCA member at that contest) Thus, if a pilot is an NSRCA District 7 member and attends and places first at four contests during the year in their class they will have a Cumulative Season Total score of 100 points. If a pilot places first in a contest but is not an NSRCA member or is an NSRCA member from a different District, then the 33.333333334 points for that contest are awarded to the highest placing NSRCA District 7 member. All other season champion points for that contest are calculated relative to the highest placing NSRCA District 7 member.
- District Championship Contest
- The annual season ending District Championship contest is normalized to 100 points for the top placing NSRCA District 7 pilot. An NSRCA District 7 pilot who wins their class at the District Championship contest is awarded 100 points. The highest possible total Season Championship points are thus 200 points. (100 possible for Cumulative Season score and 100 possible for winning the District Championship contest)
